Action Regulating
In addition to regular tuning, pianos require periodic service to the working mechanism of the keyboard, commonly referred to as 'Action Regulation'. Action regulating maintains the inner workings of your piano to ensure the keys and action parts respond well to your touch. This allows the pianist to play in a way that is controllable, predictable and comfortable optimizing the performance and response of the mechanism (action) of the piano.
The piano's action is made up of many different moving parts which are mostly made of wood and felt. When the piano is new these parts are all aligned and adjusted correctly to work properly and efficiently. As the piano gets played over time these parts start to wear due to friction and other dynamic forces causing the performance and feel of the piano to change. Action regulating restores the piano's playing mechanism to its best level of performance and evenness of touch. Action regulating corrects many common complaints such as poor repetition of notes, piano is too hard to play, inability to control dynamics etc.
Regular maintainance of your piano's action will keep your piano playing at its best and ensures your instrument performs and feels great under your fingers.
